Ant hills on turf are unsightly and can pose a stinging/biting hazard to people, especially those that are allergic. They can also be a tripping hazard on an athletic playing surface. We can do preventative blanket applications that prevent ants for a year if needed or do a drench treatment on individual mounds. We have seen over 100 ant mounds on a single playing field before.

Other insects can do damage to turf by eating leaf tissue or roots. These symptoms can be irregular brown looking spots. They can easily be misidentified as heat stress or disease. Most insect problems in this area are grubs and worms (caterpillars). Grubs are beetle larvae in the soil and feed on roots, while caterpillars feed on the foliage of turf. Treatments for insects can be incorporated into one of our turf programs if desired.
